Firs “Whale in the Night”

It’s Joey from the Pomegranates! And he just finished his debut album as Firs!  And I directed his new music video!

Joey and I had been in talks about doing some sort of video together for awhile so when I listened to ‘Whale in the Night’ and found it to be awesome, which it is, I thought “THIS IS THE SONG I SHALL MAKE A VIDEO FOR.” Then the idea of ‘playing TVs like a piano’ popped into my head.  It’s funny how ideas are.  They really are like a light bulb turning on.  It can be fun to analyze a new idea sorta like figuring out the meaning of some weird dream you had where you grew fins and gills and swam to the bottom of the deep end at your neighborhood swimming pool and found a whole school of fish kids.  Sorta.

Ideas have to come from somewhere, from some memory.  But memories are tricky and they can change each time we remember them.  But I’m pretty sure the idea for this video came from that classic dancing piano scene in Big.  That movie is, without a doubt, part of my subconcious.
